A lifelong journey through sound and storytelling.
Who I Am
I’m Mani Safikhani, musician, singer-songwriter, record producer, mix engineer, and the founder of The Hack.
The Hack
Music has been my profession since 1993. Over three decades in, I’m still as devoted to the craft as I was at the start, maybe more so. The Hack is my personal music project: a living catalogue of albums, EPs, singles, and music videos that reflect different chapters of my creative journey. Every part of the sound is self-made, from the first chord to the final mix. The Hack has always been free and always will be. If it moves you, a voluntary donation via Bandcamp means the world.
Collaboration
My collaborative work moves along two distinct paths. In one, I step into the world of other artists, contributing to their projects, their vision, their sound. In the other, artists step into mine, joining The Hack and leaving their own mark on my body of work. I value both equally. Each offers a different discipline, a different perspective, and a different way of shaping sound. You can explore these collaborations, and listen to the recordings, on the Collaborations page.
Beyond The Hack
My work extends well beyond my own records. I’ve contributed to educational productions by Pardis for Children, a children’s school based in New York, working as a sound engineer and sound effects designer on Pardis Explorers, a podcast focused on Iranian arts and culture, and as a songwriter and sound engineer on Auby’s World, a Persian-language educational series for children growing up outside of Iran. I’ve also created music for advertising, including commissioned video campaigns and other creative projects.
On the Technical Side
I completed an intensive mixing masterclass with Aubrey Whitfield through Echodrop Records, her independent label and education platform. The program draws on industry-level multitrack libraries from Cambridge Music & Technology, curated by Mike Senior, commercial-grade material used for critical listening and final mix assessments. I was awarded my certification with Distinction.
